With much consternation, we opened, decanted, and waited for a few hours before tasting the latest addition to the Fainwood family. Early reports...young, but delicious, with a great deep color, vanilla tones, and berries peeking out. The wine needs a rest after its travels, but the early reports are that we'll be living high on some excellent zinfandel.

The Zin Has Landed
Twenty-five cases of Fainwood 2007 zinfandel rolled off the truck into the Goldstein Long Island compound Wednesday. With only two bottles lost in transit -- one rolled out of the pallet, down the driveway, and christened the driveway with red wine -- the new wine has safely arrived. Two cases are bound for Massachusetts this weekend.
Unlike the sauvignon blanc, half this production belongs to the Davenports, who are anxiously awaiting its arrival as well.
